CHURCHS MAKE NICE LOFTS

In Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, at least three Churches have already been converted into loft apartments. Now, a third and the biggest one to date is about to be transformed into trendy apartments.

I've been watching this transformation on Degraw street now for well over a year and finally, I've noticed some progress. They've put on a new roof. This giant building has been in disrepair for years. The facade had been peeling away and the roof looked like it was about to cave in.

Now, steel beams have been placed inside the belly of the giant beast, cement has been poured and the roof has been attached. There's still a lot of work ahead, but one of these days (I'm sure at least a year from now) the old church, that dates back to the late 1800's should rise again, but this time as Carroll Garden's latest condo project, loft apartments. Hey, it's better than an out of place high-rise complex!
